1999
Foundation of AMBICARE - Preservação do Ambiente e Recursos Naturais, S.A.
The advent of AMBICARE came to fill a gap in the market for treatment of insulating oils, focusing its activity on preservation of environmental resources, and using the most advanced technologies available worldwide. 
2001
Pioneering project in the area of PCB
AMBICARE was a pioneer in Portugal on PCBs (Polychlorinated Biphenyl), and it was the first licensed Portuguese company to perform the decontamination of equipment containing PCBs.
2003
Change of Premises and Bet on Innovation
Result of a deep restructuring, which culminated with the construction of new facilities, AMBICARE was renamed AMBICARE INDUSTRIAL- Tratamento de Resíduos, S.A.
 
As a result of this investment, AMBICARE inaugurated its Recovery Center of Hazardous Waste with Mercury, operating nationwide in the treatment of various wastes with mercury, such as fluorescent and discharge bulbs.
 
In the same year, AMBICARE was awarded with the 1st prize of international business fair Espaço Inovação ExpoAmbiente 2003, held in Lisbon. 
2004
Quality and Environment Management System Certification
Reinforcing the trust of its customers, Lloyds Register Quality Assurance certified AMBICARE Quality and Environment Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
2005
Obtaining the Environmental Permit
AMBICARE attained the Environmental Permit, being one of the first nationwide companies to complete the process of environmental Licensing under the IPPC directive.
 
2006
Strengthening of contractual service skills
In compliance with the provisions of the Portuguese Decree-Law No. 153/2003 of July 11, AMBICARE joined SOGILUB- Sociedade de Gestão Integrada de Óleos Lubrificantes Usados, Lda, by conclusion of the contract No. 008806.
 
Also complying with the provisions of the Portuguese Decree-Law No. 366 -A/97 of December 20, AMBICARE celebrated the contract No. EMB0008027 with SOCIEDADE PONTO VERDE - Sociedade Gestora de Resíduos de Embalagens, S.A.
 
In the context of the entry into force of the Portuguese Decree-Law No. 230/2004 of December 10, contracts have been concluded with management companies AMB3E and ERP Portugal for the treatment of waste bulbs with mercury.
2007
New bulb treatment process
Given AMBICARE's commitment to use the most technologically innovative and environmentally friendly processes, it has introduced two new bulb recycling lines, responding to the increasing number of CFLs (cost-efficient) that were introduced in the market, as well as improving the recycling process of discharge bulbs.
2010
Decontamination of equipment with end-of-life PCB
AMBICARE renewed the license for decontamination of equipment containing PCB, allowing that end-of-life equipment would also be the target of intervention, minimizing the generation of waste and increasing economic benefit to its customers.
2012
Introduction of Innovative Oil Regeneration Service
In the constant search for innovative services with a strong technological component, combined with the sustainable management of companies’ assets, AMBICARE introduced a new technology that allows you to regenerate dielectric oils while the transformers are in operating charge, thus enabling it to minimize production stops and sustainably promoting the extension of oil useful lifecycle.
 
Pursuant to Portuguese Decree-Law No. 178/2006, as conferred by Portuguese Decree-Law No. 73/2011, Portuguese authorities, namely CCDR-LVT,  granted AMBICARE the license for recovery and storage operations of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to be carried out on its premises at Mitrena, Setúbal.
2016
Certification of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System
Certification by LRQA of the activities inherent to the Maintenance of Transformers in accordance with the OHSAS 18001 Standard.
2017
Weeelabex Certification
Obtaining WEEELABEX certification, a synonym for excellence in the treatment and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in Europe.
